Fire Engineer at Boverket

Boverket is the national authority for planning, construction, and housing. We aim to contribute to a sustainable society with good housing in viable environments. Our focus is on issues related to the built environment, management of land and water areas, physical planning, construction, and management of buildings, housing, and housing financing. Since July 2025, Boverket is also the preparedness authority within the preparedness sector for industry, construction, and trade.

Boverket's headquarters is located in Karlskrona, with a smaller office in Malmö. Today, approximately 240 people work at the authority, including architects, civil engineers, economists, lawyers, communicators, planners, and social scientists.

Your Role with Us

As a fire engineer, you will actively participate in and lead the development of building technical fire protection in Sweden and contribute to various international collaborations.

Your main tasks will include:

• Working on the follow-up, development, and guidance of Boverket's building regulations, particularly fire protection regulations.
• Conducting and leading investigations in fire protection and related areas, including assignments from the government.
• Working on various assignments and projects in other areas based on the unit's current needs.

Your Competence Profile

We are looking for someone who is a fire engineer or civil engineer with relevant experience in building technical fire protection. You should have good analytical skills and broad building technical competence.

Since the work is often performed in groups, good collaboration skills are important. You should be able to communicate clearly and pedagogically, both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English, and have the ability to lead meetings and give presentations. You can easily handle various issues simultaneously and work independently and systematically to achieve set goals. Great emphasis will be placed on these personal qualities.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience in building technical fire protection from work as a fire protection designer or within an authority.
• Experience in the construction process according to the Planning and Building Act as well as national and international standardization work.
• Experience in independently managing investigations or projects.

The Employment

The position is a permanent employment with a placement in Karlskrona or Malmö. Start date is according to agreement.
